Cupping and Acupuncture - Drawing Out the Toxins

Cupping, a form of TCM, is a technique in which some acupuncturists are licensed. Cupping is known to be an extremely effective treatment for a variety of conditions, especially for those with respiratory issues such as congestion, bronchitis, or asthma due to allergies or other respiratory illnesses.

The technique's name comes from the glass cup that is used during he treatment. The inside of the round cup is heated and the cup is then placed on the patient's body. As the air inside the cup cools down, a vacuum is created, pulling the skin up taut underneath the cup as it creates suction. The pores dilate, and blockages that are underneath the skin are broken up, as increased blood flow improves the Qi. This can also allow toxins to be drawn out of the body.

Dr. Steven Schrqm is a licensed acupuncturist. To learn more about acupuncture and cupping therapy, you can visit the website for his practice.
